

Patsy Ruth Gautreau Toma, 86, of Baton Rouge, was born on March 22, 1935 and passed away peacefully on March 24, 2021 after a long illness. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy where she was active in sports. She began a career at Fidelity National Bank upon graduation where she worked as a teller for a number of years. Patsy was an accomplished dancer and was one of the original “Jeffie Jean Dancers”. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the casino with her longtime companion George Martin. She also enjoyed painting, playing golf, and traveling with her sisters. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her sisters, Donna Gautreau Calabrese and Barbara Gautreau Barton Leblanc; her nieces, Vicki Calabrese Baird, Candace Barton Deville (Donald), Kelli Calabrese Catanzaro, and Robyn Barton; her great nieces and nephews, Brittny Bryan Kaigler (Streett), Barton Luis Romero (Kelly), William Cole Bryan Jr., Rebecca Romero Landry (Curry), Casey Louis Catanzaro, and Anthony James Scardina; and by her great-great nieces and nephews, Lyndon Streett Kaigler, Hudson Layne Kaigler, Jack Barton Romero, Audrey Jessamine Romero, Abigail Faith Scardina, and Hunter Luciano Scardina, and Harper Anne Landry. She is lovingly remembered by her companion and caregiver George N. Martin and his children, Brenda Gajan (Preston), Eileen Lefeaux (Keith), Rebecca Watts, Roby Wax (Lorrie), and Shari Metz (Roddie). She is proceeded in death by her parents, Mitchell Allen Gautreau and Lillian Sheets Gautreau; her brother, Mitchell Allen Gauteau Jr.; her husband, Richard Toma; by her nephews, Terry Michael Calabrese and James Randall Barton Jr.; and by her brothers-in-law, Louis “Breezy” Lionel Calabrese and James “Jim” Randall Barton. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. George Catholic Church on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 2 pm until mass of Christian burial at 3 pm.
