
A native ofWest Monroeand retired from Ethyl Corp. and Briarwood Country Club, he died at 11:45 a.m.Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, atSt.ElizabethHospitalin Gonzales. He was 70, a resident of St. Amant and a former resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday was from noonto 4 p.m.Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Monday from 8 a.m.until religious service in the chapel at noon, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tommy Middleton. Burial will follow atResthavenGardensof Memory. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Donna Lafayette; daughter and son-in-law, Suzi and Joe Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Victoria Lafayette, Amy Childers, Amanda Creel, Miles Hutchinson and Morgan Hutchinson; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Pearl Lafayette; loyal and trusting caregiver, Mary Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by wife of 46 years, Connie Dixon Lafayette; parents, Leola Beavers and Gene Lafayette; and sister, Pat Sullivan. He was a member ofWoodlawnBaptistChurch. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Deville, Ricky Deville, Tom Arceneaux, Pete Arceneaux, Richie Sibley, Sam Kimbrough, Mark Smith and Miles Hutchinson.
