I’m so sorry. I only met him once, at St. Ignatius gumbo cook off this year. He was a delight and introduced me to potato salad in my gumbo! Delicious! I know he will be missed.

Family and Friends of Paul:

I was very saddened to learn of Paul’s untimely death. I extend my deepest sympathies to Paul’s family and friends. 

I had the pleasure of attending Junior High through High School with Paul, and being Paul’s football teammate. I have a distinct recollection of Paul, along with his three lifetime best friends, Mike Boyce, Don Padgett, and Dwight Boeneke, as they made a high speed  entrance into the BRHS parking lot in Boyce’s Jeep the first day of football practice our Senior year, Boyce at the wheel, Paul riding shotgun, and Padgett and Boeneke in the back. We were  not sure who was going to show up for football that year, so Couch McGraw was sure happy to see those guys wheeling into the parking lot. Paul, along with Boyce, Padgett, Boeneke, and Warren Bogan were the heart and soul of our football team that year. Paul always found a story or “wise-crack” to make everyone laugh during the toughest of practices. It was that year that Paul acquired another of his many nicknames,“Ziffel”, which was quickly adopted by Coach McGraw. Paul was a very good player and teammate. 

I feel fortunate to have continued to know Paul throughout my adult life, both as my “Bug-Man” for the past 45+ years and as a friend. The last time I saw Paul, he was “holding court” at the BRHS 50 Year Class Reunion. Paul was in rare form, keeping everyone in hearing distance in stitches that night with old stories and new, which is the way I will always remember him. Paul could see a rat crossing the road and turn that into an adventure bigger than Raiders of the Lost Ark. I never knew a greater story teller. Amazingly most of those stories were true (at least in part). As Paul enters the Pearly Gates, I envision him being greeted  by St. Peter, flanked by Boyce and Padgett, with all three soon rolling on the ground laughing from a Paul story. 

Paul was a very good man, who will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

I have been Paul's secretary for 11 years.  Paul made all his employees feel like we are a part of his family. We always ate lunch together daily. Share plenty of stories and laughter and tears over the years. I am grateful for his friendship and fatherly advice. He will be missed.

The very last memory I have was when I witnessed Mr. Paul induct Layne as the third generation president of our state association last week. The moment was heavy with Mr. Paul tearing up with the immense proudness he felt as a father passing the torch his brother and father passed to him.
What a sweet memory for everyone in that room, and our industry to witness and cherish.
When I joined his company I took a leap of faith. But every day since then has been a testament to his hard work as a father, husband, and businessman. The company he built is a reflection of his character. The tenure of his team is a reflection of the loyalty he instills. I'm honored to have known Mr. Paul, and am honored to work under his legacy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Pauly P through his daughter, Lauren , who is one of my favorite people in the entire world. Vivid memories of gumbo, and purple and yellow,  laughter and Crown and cokes…and a family so full of love that I can still feel it today. He and his beautiful wife started a family, who have started their own beautiful families and  now carry his legacy of lighting up every room with joy.  I am so blessed to have known this wonderful man, so grateful to him for bringing my wonderful biffer into this world, and  my heart and prayers are with his entire family.

I was lucky to work with Paul on his advertising. He was a pleasure to work with and always made me laugh. He was such a joy, and I'm so sorry for his loss. I hope your memories together will help carry you through the rough times. God bless.

Linn and I love Debbie and Paul so much and we are so blessed that they "adopted" Ty as one of their own.  Paul was the most wonderful father-in-law and we are forever grateful for his love and influence in Ty and Lauren's marriage and his devotion to Palmer, Wright and Nolan.

Nothing I loved more than a good Paul story or a Paul road trip video from Layne.  Paul took me in at The Bug Man when I needed a change after college and I have the best memories from my time there. I got to work with my best friend and be part of the Bug fam for 3 years. Even though we had to work on Good Friday because "it's a good Friday to work", he was the best boss :). Paul will be missed by everyone who knew him but especially his girls. Sending all my love to you all.

Mrs. Debbie, Layne and family,

Mr. Paul will be missed by so many. He is one of the first community business owners that I met when I opened my business 10 years ago, and he has been an integral part of my business journey.  His involvement and commitment to help others is one of the things that I will never forget. Since we moved across the street in 2017 and became business neighbors, so many times we greeted each other across the parking lot and I always knew he was good for a warm smile, a big hug, and encouraging words.  He could turn a dark day into a bright one effortlessly.

He loved each of you so deeply; I don't think words can adequately describe. I cannot recall a single conversation that we didn't talk about the family (he was so proud of all of you), the fishing trips, the camp, and all of the other people and things that he dearly loved. We will all miss him, especially each of you. Know that while he is not with us here, he lives in each of you, and he will always be proud of the legacy that he leaves behind on this short journey.  Layne, you have big shoes to fill, but he had all the confidence in the world that you will shine as the leader of the business that you all have built over the years.

May God comfort and hold all of you during this so very difficult time, and always. You remain in my prayers, and from my heart I extend to each of you my deepest sympathy for this  unexpected and tragic loss.

I am so very sorry for your loss of Paul. He was loved by all who knew him, especially his BRHS friends. I remember after graduation,  Mike,  Don and Paul started a painting business.  My daddy was so impressed that he hired. them to paint our carport, store  rooms,  and his office buildings.  I am so glad he came to the reunion so we could see him. He will be missed by so many. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can come by Saturday due to a previous commitment with my mom. May God Bless and keep you !

Mr. Paul was always so warm and welcoming! No matter where I saw him, he greeted me with that giant smile and an even bigger hug! The last time I saw him was at the Ascension Chamber Christmas luncheon in 2022 and I won his "door prize." It was a small wooden box with a lever on the side. Although I suspected it might well be a typical joke, I was willing to steel myself when he asked me to open it...IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CROWD! When I did, of course, out came a rubber mouse that immediately hit my thumb and I jumped and hollered despite trying to steel myself against it. Mr. Paul nearly fell off his chair with roaring laughter knowing that he got me! I and the rest of our community will sorely miss his presence. He was an amazing man with incredible energy! Thank you, Paul Salvant, for your many examples! Many prayers to the entire Salvant family!

I am saddened to hear of Paul's passing, and I send prayers of comfort to his family and many friends.  I can't remeber a single time in the 33 years I knew him that he didn't greet me with a big smile and hearty handshake.

Paul, your jovial spirit brought light to the  world. You will be sorely missed.

Mr. Paul leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, tenacity, and compassion embodied in his beautiful daughters.  He will continue to live in and through you. My deepest prayers for your family, Leigh. I love you all.

Very sorry to hear. I met him the first time at the of wedding of Tyler and hid daughter Lauren. He never left the dance floor , great energy one of the greatest receptions I’ve ever been.

Sending sincere condolences to the entire Salant family. Paul was always so full of life, wearing a big smile wherever he went. We are shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. The one memory of Paul that I will never forget occurred when his daughter Lauren was in high school. One night during one of the weekend volleyball tournaments, prior to bedtime Lauren put her contacts in a hotel cup soaking in water. The next morning Paul was thirsty and inadvertently drank this cup of water along with the contacts. All day people joked that he could help the referee by ‘calling lines’ with his butt having the benefit of swallowing the contacts. Even now I chuckle at this incident. The Salvant Patriarch touched the lives of countless individuals. May Paul’s soul Rest In Peace.

To Debbie and the girls. Paul will be missed by so many. We first met when he served on the board of Baton Rouge Business Network and later our relationship grew as he served many years on the PartnersOne board of directors.
He was such an affable guy and so easy to get along with. We share in your grief.
