
Pearl Penner Rayner was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 28, 1924. She passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, in Baton Rouge at the age of 83. She was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a homemaker. She attended the New York City College of Music, sang in the Metropolitan Opera House Chorus and worked at the World Over Magazine before moving to Baton Rouge in 1951. She was a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Baton Rouge. Survived by her children, Harry Rayner and wife Ellen, Sarah Rayner and Mitch Rayner and wife Elizabeth; brothers, Larry Penner and Harold Penner of Delray Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Ben, David and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Rayner; and her parents, Aaron and Ethel Penner. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Graveside service will follow at Liberal Cemetery on Sunday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rabbi Stanton Zamek. Pallbearers will be Michael Dasgupta Rayner, Alex Rayner, Ben Rayner and David Rayner.
