Peggy June Mitchell Gilmore, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Port Allen, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. She was 85. She was a member and faithful greeter at Christian Life Fellowship for many years. Visitation at Christian Life Fellowship, 2307 Quail Drive, on Thursday, July 9, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., with her pastor, Dr. Jere Melilli, officiating. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with interment to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Mitchell Davis; sisters-in-law, Eve Mitchell and Elaine Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Gilmore, and their daughter, Anita G. Gilmore; two sisters, Verna Bardwell and Shirley Simmons; and four brothers, Charles, Milton, Harold and Elmer Mitchell. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Sunrise of Baton Rouge for the love and care the staff and residents have given to Peggy for many years. You were truly part of her extended family. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care that the staff at Ollie Steele Burden gave to Peggy during the last weeks of her life.
