
Peggy J. Hunt was born in Tallahassee, Fla., May 12, 1944. She lived most of her life in Baton Rouge. She attended LSU and studied voice with Dr. Earl Redding and Dr. Victor Klimash. She participated in the Bengal Belles. Peggy retired from the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, where she programmed computers for livestock and horse shows for the LSU Livestock Show Office. She was a member of the Camerata Singers of Baton Rouge and was involved in numerous other musical groups and productions, both as a performer and director. Peggy had a deep abiding faith in a personal God "Who gives us whatever talents we may have." She possessed a great love for children, which explained her having spent more than 47 years directing children's choirs. As a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church staff, Peggy named and was director of Kids for Christ, participated in the adult chancel choir and was the congregational song leader. She also was the director of special ministries, which included: special Sunday observances, Abundant Life and The Roadrunners. She was also the church wedding coordinator and most recently, Peggy had been a member of the Blackwater United Methodist Prayer Garden Task Force. Survived by her mother, Helon O. Hunt; and uncle, Alvin N. Hunt. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin L. Hunt. Pallbearers will be Michael Hunt, Roy Hunt, John Stafford, Ryan McKnight, Rod LeDuff, Karl Snyder and Kurt Felton. Visitation at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Road, Baker, on Wednesday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the service at noon. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Moon, the Rev. Linda M. Hagan and Dr. Larry Stafford. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blackwater United Methodist Church.
