2Timothy 4:7-8 (King James) says “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Peter Raymond DeJohn, Sr received his crown. He left his earthly body, was made whole and is dancing before his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It was evident to anyone who had the privilege of meeting him that he was in love with Jesus and we can find comfort in knowing that when he stood before Him, the words from Matthew 25:21 were spoken: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”. Peter was faithful to the Lord until he took his last breath, trusting and believing in Him for every aspect of his life.
Peter was born June 14, 1943 and grew up in the good old days on North Street in Baton Rouge, LA. He served his country in the United States Army, with a tour in Vietnam, or as he would always say, “Uncle Sam gave me a free plane ride to Vietnam”. Peter (also known as Raymond to his North Street friends), worked in the electrical industry in Baton Rouge for 50 years. In 1986, he opened his own business, which would later become DeJohn’s Electrical Sales, Inc. where he would spend large portions of his days ministering to anyone that walked through the doors. He gave his life to the Lord in 1983 and from that point forward, he had an unwavering love for Him. His desire was to see all that he came in contact with know that they, too, could have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Peter is preceded in death by his father Julius DeJohn, mother Marie Rebowe DeJohn, older sister Antoinette McAlister and twin brother Lawrence Joseph DeJohn. Staying true to his faith in God through the words in Genesis 2:24 KJV “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Peter and Susan became one flesh for 31 years. He is survived by many that loved him. His wife Susan A. DeJohn, his six children; Monica Rae DeJohn, Stacey D. Shultz and husband David, Peter Raymond DeJohn, Jr, Nicole D. Brown and husband Scott, Lucille Rachelle DeJohn, Mack Bryant and wife Chrislyn and his daughter-in-law Emily DeJohn; his grandchildren; Victoria, Alexandra, Cade, Selah, Caleb, Gabriella, Joseph, Isabella and Evelyn.
