

Richard Elmer Boucher, age 91, passed away on Saturday 3/14/15. 'Dick' Boucher was born in El Monte, California December 9, 1923, the second of four children, all brothers. At age 18, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corp before it became the US Air Force. He was trained as a pilot, and he flew B 17's in 31 combat missions over Germany with the 351st bomber group out of Polbrook England. After Captain Boucher's honorable discharge, he married his sweetheart Siamara Benitez, and used the GI Bill to get his Master's Degree in Chemistry from LSU in Baton Rouge. He worked in New Orleans, and then returned to Baton Rouge to work at Kaiser Aluminum, and then for Ethyl Corporation. He was a research chemist and then an electron microscopist. He remained in touch with many of these co-workers for the rest of his life and they shared coffee and beignets at Coffee Call every Monday morning. A tradition he started 30 years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife Siamara B. Boucher, his parents Earl and Helen Boucher, older brother Robert Earl Boucher, and granddaughter Allison Campbell. He is survived by his younger brothers Ron Boucher and Howard Boucher, his children Mark and spouse Joy Boucher, Dennis and spouse Julie Boucher, Marcy B. and spouse Bill Stairwalt and Dierdre B. and spouse Richard Stoneking, grandchildren Lindsay C.and spouse Greg DeBlieux and baby DeBlieux, Melissa and Laura Boucher and Brian Boucher, step-grandchildren Robin Kendzie and Eric Stoneking, and step-great-granddaughter Avary Kendzie. As a widower, he was blessed to have close friendships with Rosemarie Gaeke and Betty Nelson. He loved his LSU Tigers, reading, woodworking, and Corvettes. His sense of humor was a delight for all his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest till the very end. Visitation and rosary will be held at Rabenhorst East, 11000 Fla. Blvd, Friday 5:00-8:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Saturday, 3-21-15 at 12pm, concelebrated by Rev. Phillip Eaten and Deacon Richard Grant. Graveside services will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Cemetery, 9595 Fla. Blvd. immediately following the Mass.
