

Richard “Elmo” Zufall, a native of Monroe and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away Friday January 31, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital after a brief illness. Richard was 81 years old. He was a retiree of Kornmeyer’s Furniture Store, an active member of the University United Methodist Church and a longtime volunteer of Interfaith Care Givers. Richard was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Diane and children, R. Dana Magee, wife Betty, Gretchen Zufall, husband Hardy Justice, and Mel Zufall, partner Thad Laiche; grandchildren, Rebecca Gafford, husband Dave, Ashley Lee, husband Mark, Richard Dana Magee, Jr, Hallie and Calum Justice; great grandchildren Ryan Rehgann and Gavin Gafford, Jayden M. Magee and Olivia Lee; sisters Pat Martin, husband John and Bobbie Gregorich, husband Dave. Richard is preceded in death by his mother and step father Frances and Vince Pecoraro; his father and step mother Emilo and Evelyn Zufall; and brother John Zufall. Pallbearers are Russell Stringer, Larry Stringer, Dave Gafford, Mark Lee, Richard D. Magee, Jr and Calum Justice. Visitation will be Tuesday February 4, 2014 at University United Methodist Church, 3350 Darylmple Dr. Baton Rouge, LA from 10am until funeral services conducted by Rev. Larry Miller at 12pm. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at University United Methodist Church after service time. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the University United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. The family would like to thank Rev. Larry Miller and Carol Civils of the University United Methodist Church and OLOL, MICU and the ER staff for their wonderful care.
