"Robbie Nell Spikes Edmonds born September 27, 1956 in Baton Rouge passed away peacefully at home on November 27, surrounded by her family. She fought a truly courageous battle with cancer and is now cradled in the hands of our Lord. Robbie attended Istrouma High School, then Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University, where she graduated with a degree in Education. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a lifelong resident of Louisiana and spent her time consumed in family and helping others. She is preceded in death by her father, Patrick Dale Spikes and her mother, Vicky Beebe Spikes. She is survived by her husband, Walter (Ronnie) Edmonds, her children, Caroline Edmonds O'Cain (husband Trey) of Canton, Mississippi and her son Raymond Stirling Edmonds (wife Courtney) of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and her brother Patrick Dale Spikes, Jr. (wife Sherrye). She has three grandchildren - Mary Caroline, Attison Stirling and Colson Louis O'Cain of Canton, Mississippi. She was a wonderful caregiver for both her father and her mother in the later stages of their lives, and her nurturing spirit and compassion for others is something for which she will always be remembered. It was often said that "Obbie", a name bestowed upon by her grandchildren and carried by all others from that point forward, never met a stranger and could engage, befriend, welcome, and comfort anyone she met, and the exhilaration and passion she drew from her deep love of socialization with others is what truly made her a remarkable and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to those that had the pleasure to know her. Romans 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. The family would like to thank all those have touched her in this chapter of her life - especially the wonderful doctors, nurses, assistants, and helpers that made this journey so much more bearable for her. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Notre Dame Hospice or other similar organizations. Visitation will be held at St. James Episcopal Church starting at 9:30 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 on Wednesday November 30. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. is in charge of arrangements.
