

Robert "Bob" Conway passed away on October 26, only twenty-four days after the death of Joyce Smith Conway, his beloved wife of 68 years. A long-time resident of Baton Rouge and a 1940 graduate of Catholic High School, Bob, age 92, was an adored husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He attended Louisiana State University and was member of the Army ROTC, LSU band and Kappa Alpha Fraternity. During his junior year he was called to serve in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater. Following the war, Bob returned to Baton Rouge to marry Joyce on April 27,1946 and to complete his degree in Business Administration at LSU. During the Korean War, Bob was recalled to serve state side in Fort Sill Oklahoma while beginning to raise his family. His career in industrial sales led him to relocate to Seattle, Washington and Atlanta, Georgia before returning to Baton Rouge in 1963. Later he became President / Owner of Southern Equipment Inc. Bob was a charter member of Bocage Racquet Club where he enjoyed many years of tennis into his 80's as well as weekly poker games and breakfast and lunch groups in his later years. Bob will be missed by his children: Louise Jeter, Keith Conway, Grant and Ann Conway as well as Page and Bill Silvia. He was very proud of his grandchildren Jill and Hayes Harris, Amy and Chris Gonzales and Michael and Clayton Thompson and great-grandchildren Isabella and Christopher Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marguerite Conway, brother William "Bill" Conway, sister Merna McKowen and son-in-law James Jeter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 29th at Our Lady of Mercy Church from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. with Mass of Christian burial beginning at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation for diabetes research or to a charity of your choice.
