The world lost a gentle soul Friday, February 27, 2015, at 7:50 a.m. An avid story teller and fisherman, Bob’s quick wit and ready smile made him a favorite person to both young and old. At the age of 23, Bob flew injured soldiers and POWs home from the Pacific during World War II. He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Mary Jane Coberly Gould, and together they raised three children. Bob worked for many years for Atlas Mutual Insurance Company of Kansas City, MO, an insurer of the lumber industry. He and his family moved to Baton Rouge in 1956, and then to Shreveport, Louisiana. The family eventually returned to the Kansas City area and Bob retired to Lee’s Summit, Mo, where he and Mary Jane made their home in Lakewood, enjoying fishing and boating and many wonderful friends. Bob returned to Baton Rouge in 2007 and was a resident of Williamsburg Senior Living Community where he quickly became known as “Bingo Bob” and faithfully called bingo daily for his Williamsburg friends. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane and son, Charles Mahlon Gould. He is survived by daughters Cynthia Ann Gould Mabry of Baton Rouge, and Catherine Jane Gould Edwards, son-in-law Wayne Edwards of Destin, Florida, granddaughter Mary Carlyle Mabry Kerr and husband Alastair Kerr, of San Diego, California, granddaughter Christin Lejayne Edwards Salinas and husband Jeremiah Salinas, of Orlando, Florida, granddaughter Chelsea Nicole Edwards Cacciatore and husband Mario Cacciatore, of Oviedo, Florida, and great grandchildren Duncan Elizabeth Kerr, Collin David Kerr, Sutton James Kerr and Holden Charles Cacciatore. A memorial service will be held March 13, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, at Williamsburg Senior Living Community, 5445 Government Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806.
