

Robert Harrison Parks, 95, of Baton Rouge, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. Bob Parks was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Water Valley, Miss., reared in Memphis, Tenn., and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Bob was known for his work ethic, quick wit, entertaining story telling of the Great Depression and service in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. Bob was an automotive parts specialist for more than 35 years. He was an excellent left-handed golfer who participated in numerous tournaments until 2007, but the highlight of his lifelong passion for golf was playing The Olde Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. A talented woodworker and skilled craftsman, Bob also enjoyed brim fishing on area lakes. PawPaw was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Minor Sledge Fyfe Parks; two sons, Robert Harrison Parks Jr. and Joe Brown Parks; two daughters, Sandra Kay Parks Margavio and husband Anthony, and Prudence Sledge Parks Moreland and husband David; 14 grandchildren, Gary Parks, Victor Margavio, Robert Margavio and wife Wendy, Chuck Margavio and wife Michele, Tait Margavio and wife Kristy, Minor Margavio Helmer and husband Bobby, Jim Margavio and wife Tracy, John Margavio, Daniel Margavio, Kristi Parks Holmes, Erin Parks Rackstraw, Andrew Moreland and wife Paula, Sarah Moreland Guidry and husband Dave, and Maxwell Ruffin Moreland; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters and grandson. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Margavio, David Moreland, Victor Margavio, Robert Margavio, Chuck Margavio, Tait Margavio, Andrew Moreland, Jim Margavio, John Margavio, Gary Parks, Daniel Margavio and Ruffin Moreland.
