

Hilton was a humble, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at his home at age 88 surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Batchelor. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A second visitation will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Innis on Friday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Peggy Scott. Interment in the church cemetery. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Ethyl Corp. after 33 years of service as a crane operator, and as a courier at Express Couriers after seven years. He also owned R&M Trucking. He was member of the American Legion Post 38 and the UCT. He left behind a legacy of love and faith that will sustain his family through this difficult time. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 25 years, Nettie A. Rice; daughters, Lois R. Woodward Wise and husband Steve, and Terry R. Tullier and husband Mike; son, Frank H. Rice and wife Pat; and two stepchildren, Deron Guy and Claire Lintzen. He is also survived by his sisters, Dora Lee Brown and husband Leo, and Margie 'Tootsie' Miglicco Hymel and husband Cecil; brother-in-law, Wilburn Brooks; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; grandchildren, Amanda, Alison, Michael, Robby, Brad, Jennifer, Ryan, Frank Jr., Daniel, Ciara and Caden, and their loving spouses; and great-grandchildren, Cody, Cade, Katie, Jessica, Jacob, Jillian, Allie, Sam and Ty. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years and the mother of his children, Marie M. Rice; parents, Frank and Vione Rice; sister, Norma Brooks; brothers-in-law, Jack Lawton and John Miglicco; granddaughter, Michelle Rice; and brother- and sister-in-law, Ariel and Eleanor Miller. Pallbearers will be nine of his grandchildren. The family wishes to thank his many Ochsner's physicians, nurses and St. Joseph's Hospice staff for their excellent care.
