Robert William "Bob" Thorne, Jr.

"Robert William "Bob" Thorne, Jr., born on April 22, 1946 in Shawano, Wisconsin, to the late Marge Jones Thorne and the late Robert William Thorne, Sr. passed away at age 71 on March 22, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Nicholls State University. Robert served in the Coast Guard from 1964 to 1970 and he also worked in the Oil Field industry as a Country Operations Manager for Ensco until he retired in 2010. Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rhea Wiesler Thorne. Robert is also survived by his son, Jason Robert Thorne; daughter, Stephani Erin Thorne; brothers, Rex (Lanell) Thorne and Michael (Debbie) Thorne; and sisters, Yolanda (Milton) Laabs, Renee (Forrest) O'Kimosh, and Robin (Gary) Prey. He was preceded in death by a brother, LaDarrow Lee Thorne. Robert loved playing and watching golf, watching LSU football and baseball, and watching old westerns and Perry Mason. He was the retired treasurer of the Broadmoor Residents Association. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Robert's name to Our Lady of Lake Children's Hospital or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Friends and family members are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, March 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rabenhorst East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70815. Following the visitation, there will be a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
