
Mr. Robert "Bob" Gaston Murphy, 86, a native of Monticello, Ark., and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. He was a retired auditor with the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Nov. 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, officiated by the Rev. Tom Duhe. Burial at Resthaven Mausoleum. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Verlin B. Murphy; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Tom Gaston, of Flowery Branch, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert David and Jenny Murphy of Germantown, Tenn., and Ragan G. and Cherrie Murphy, of Brandon, Miss.; a brother, Ralph Kenneth Murphy, of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Jane Murphy; son Roger E. Murphy; parents, Leslie D. and Glenyee Murphy; and two sisters, Marilyn M. Leslie and Peggy Nell Murphy. Bob was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and a member of St. Thomas More Parish.
