
A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 6, 1935, to the late Victor Zimmerman and late Bertha Sharp Zimmerman. His highest level of education was his doctorate from LSU. He was 75 and a retired geologist. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Lou Camp Zimmerman. Survived by their children, Karla Kerr and husband Joseph Kerr, Zinda LeBlanc and husband Dr. Karl LeBlanc, Tamara Hall and husband Bryan Hall, Jeffrey Zimmerman and wife Kym Zimmerman. Also survived by grandchildren, Christina Selder and husband David Selder, Jeffery Thompson and wife Gina Thompson, Andrew LeBlanc, Nicole Kerr, Jayd Zimmerman and Megan Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Maya Selder, Zachary Wood, Alyssa Selder, Sarah Wood, Carter Thompson, Kaitlyn Selder and Braden Thompson; and longtime friend and fiancée Elizabeth McCreight. Also survived by his elder brother, Gifford Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews. He served his country in the Army in the 1950s in Germany and the U.S. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association (800) 242-8721.
