Rose Marie McKno McPherson went to be with her Lord on November 21, 2024, at the age of 94. She passed peacefully at her home after a long and full life. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her guidance and Christian example will continue to inspire her daughters: Diane Marie Foster, Rose Kathleen McBride (Marshall), Tina Nureen Smith, Karen Maureen Manning (Michael), Tricia Ann (David) Williams. She is survived by twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Alice McKno Lasseigne. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wm O McPherson, her parents James D and Marie (Buthmann) McKno, sister Irma McKno Wild, brother James D McKno Jr, and daughter Erin Colleen Coulon.
She earned her registered nursing degree from Hotel Dieu in 1946. Her nursing career was put on hold when their first child was born in 1954 and then resumed again 1970. She was on the very first Open Heart Team at the Baton Rouge General until she retired in 1991. She was a long time member of Florida Blvd Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Rose was always working the daily crossword puzzle (in ink) and enjoyed family jigsaw puzzles on New Year's Eve as we were growing up. We want to thank her sitters: Patricia, Courtney, and Alexa Johnson and Nicole White as well as Audubon Hospice for their loving care and attention.
A memorial gathering for Rose will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, conducted by Rev Tom Cook.
Rose will be laid to rest in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA.
