

Our precious and much loved Casemore family matriarch, Ruby Lemoine Casemore, passed away on February 1, 2018; just days shy of her 102nd birthday. She was born in Plaucheville, La. on February 13, 1916 to Emmanuel and Anna Lemoine. The Lemoine family moved to Marrero, La after The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, where she lived for 10 years before marrying the love of her life, Virgil “Casey” George Casemore. They moved to Baton Rouge in 1946, where they opened Casey’s Plumbing and Town and Country Furniture. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Emmanual and Anna Lemoine; her husband of 64 years, Virgil “Casey” George Casemore; siblings, Thelma Couvillion, Francis Lemoine, Lee Lemoine, Allen Lemoine, Bernard Lemoine, Doris Pares, and Aaron Lemoine; and her son-in-law, Harry “Kirk” Brown. She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Damon Casemore (Joan), Gary Casemore (Jackie), Sandra Brown, Patricia Green (Gary), Susan Casemore, and Alene Casemore; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. While actively practicing her Catholic faith, Ruby served as a Catholic Daughter and on the Altar Society. She raised her six children and lent her creative abilities to garden and home demonstration clubs, becoming a member of both the Anna Cotton Homemakers and Magnolia Gardeners Garden Club. The love, laughter, great meals, activities, and fun shared with family and friends by her in 102 years of life is worthy of celebration. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Kirk Casemore, Brian Casemore, Mark Casemore, Dustin Brown, Shayne Green, and Hunter Green. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church; beginning at 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Jennie Seals and the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge for the love, kindness, and respect they provided our mother and grandmother in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church, Hospice of Baton Rouge, or St . Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
