
Ruby Catherine McGrew, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the Carpenter House. She was 85 and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was born in Texas and moved to Louisiana where she met her lifetime love, "Bob," while working at the soda fountain at Walgreens Drug Store. Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 12, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Visiting on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by her nine children and their spouses, Robert McGrew, Jr. and Susie, Curtis McGrew and Diana, Paul McGrew and Kathy, Deborah Boyd and Alan, Catherine Starnes and Roger, Ann Starns and Allen, Carol Mayeux and Ray, Margaret Henagan and Jerril Musso, and Heidi Picard and Brian; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee McGrew, Sr.; parents, two brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Paul McGrew, Curtis McGrew, Chad Picard, Bradley Harless, Matthew Boyd, Mitchell McGrew, Bryan Harless and Lee Boyd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
