Sadie Emily Mitchell Reily, 92, was taken by Jesus on the sunny Saturday afternoon of March 12, 2022 at her home in Bains, LA. Emily (known to friends as “Frenchie”) was born on August 30, 1929 in St. Francisville, LA to parents Sarah Tray and David Chase. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of seventy years, William Morgan Reily, by brothers Leroy Mitchell, Andrew Roach, Morris Elvin and Melvin P. Jones, and by sisters Mamie Johnson and Viola Mitchell. Emily is survived by one sister Audrey Jean Howard and by her ten children; Sarah (Charles) Mervin, Ann Marie, Joseph “JW” (Elsa), Sylvia (Austin), Diana, Andrew, William Tyrone “Mickie”(Amy), Morris (O’Neil) and Michelle. She is survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Emily lived her entire 92.5 years in West Feliciana Parish. She loved country living and especially Christmas when she’d decorate her entire home and yard in spectacular style. She was a big personality who loved cooking, gardening, bargain shopping, and socializing with her kids, grand children, friends and neighbors. Emily never missed an opportunity to make a friend and she adopted every friend into her big extended family. Frenchie surrendered to dementia very quickly but did not suffer. She died quietly at her home, as she had wished, surrounded by those who loved her. A special measure of gratitude is extended to our family friend Betty, who took great care of Emily through her end-days, along with the great staff of The Hospice of Baton Rouge. A graveside service is planned at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, 8896 Myrtle Hill Dr, in St. Francisville on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2pm where her ashes will be buried with her Mother and Siblings. She absolutely loved flowers should you choose to offer a tribute.
