Samuel Alfred Bacot peacefully passed away at his home on December 22, 2023 at the age of 76. He was an adoring husband, loving father, a trusted friend to all who knew him, and overall, the coolest guy on the planet. He was an admired, award winning commercial real estate attorney who served the Louisiana legal community for over 50 years and a longstanding partner at McGlinchey Stafford. After getting his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University, he graduated from LSU Law school in 1973. He taught law for many years, and was always eager to share his wisdom, which was often sought after from his colleagues.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years and a Man who was certain about his faith in God. With deep roots in Louisiana, he loved Mardi Gras with his family and was a beloved member of the Krewe of Bacchus for over 25 years. He had a never-ending curiosity for all things and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Due to his penchant for history, politics, music and life experience, he was a mesmerizing storyteller. His hobbies included guitar, food and wine, all of which he loved sharing with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jayne Browning Bacot; children, Stephanie Bacot, Samuel Travis Bacot, Sarah Bacot, Kirby Guidry; sons-in-laws Brian Smith and Todd Guidry; grandsons, Samuel Travis Bacot II, Townes Bacot, Tucker Guidry; sister, Penny Joly and husband Jimmy and numerous extended family members (The Browning Clan). He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel A. Bacot; mother, Ellen Rodriguez Sipe and stepfather Johnnie Sipe.
Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church located at 763 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on January 5th from 9:30-11:00 followed immediately by a memorial service at 11:00.
