Sarah Dennard Hines

Sarah Dennard Hines of Covington, La., passed into the next part of her journey, leaving this world and joining her loved ones up above. She was 91 years old when she left this world, with her beloved daughter Brenda Myers by her side.

Ms. Sarah was born in Atlanta, Georgia, February 21, 1934, part of a family of 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She moved to Louisiana with her lifelong love, Jimmy, in 1953, and they grew a life together until Jimmy left this world in 2013, including 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Her life was remarkable, influencing for good so many all over the world, always with a helping hand or a stern reminder that she had said it 2 times—don’t make her say it 3. But her greatest gift was how she loved and nurtured a wandering group of 11 grandkids, always with focus on God and love towards others, daily.

She is survived by her sweet sister, Jet Negas of Atlanta, whom she talked to daily; her sister Sandra; and lastly her children: Brenda Gail, James Douglas, and DeWayne Timothy.

She was preceded by brothers Howard, Harry, and Sammy; sister Drenda; and the love of her lifetime, husband Jimmy, who she is united with again in Heaven along with her son Danny Ray.

The family will have a small graveside service at Green Oaks this Wednesday at 3:00 and she will be laid to rest next to Jimmy. Plans for all in the future include holding a Celebration of Life, which she would love.
