

"Sarah Madison Romero died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake hospital surrounded by her family. Sarah was a woman of incredible strength, spirit and unshakable faith in God. She was born on November 15, 1955 in Bastrop, Louisiana and was reared in Monroe, Louisiana where she attended Neville High School. She graduated from Louisiana State University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and was an LSU cheerleader. She retired as a legal administrator for Moore, Walters and Thompson and was involved in many organizations throughout her life. She was an active member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, including serving on her personal favorite - River Road Ramblers and the Charity Ball of Baton Rouge. She served on the junior vestry at St. James Episcopal Church before becoming a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Come Lord Jesus steering committee for the St. Vincent de Paul Sweet Dreams project. Sarah was most passionate about dancing, specifically ballet and tap. She performed numerous years in the Baton Rouge Nutcracker - A Tale From the Bayou and served on the Baton Rouge Ballet board for many years. Over the past several years she channeled her love of music by playing hand bells with the St. Aloysius hand bell choir. Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, CD Romero; son Madison Romero and his wife Lori and grandson, Zach and granddaughter Charli; daughter Britton Romero Durio and her husband Kenny; brother Webb Madison and wife Tracy, sister Sudie Moyse and her husband Lewis and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her "sisters in spirit" - the Abundant Grace Come Lord Jesus Group. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah (Sancy) Hawkins McCool, father, Dr. E. Edward McCool and grandparents Mary (Meme) and Ben Hawkins. Pallbearers are Sterling (Buck) Gladden, Leo Hodgins, Rolfe Miller, Jay Rousseau, Chris Town, and John W. (Chip) Weimar. Visitation will be Monday, October 10th at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart from 10:00 until 12:00 followed by a funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Baton Rouge.
