
Sarah, an angel on Earth for the past 83 years, was called to heaven on Thursday, June 4, 2009. Sarah Wolf was raised at 1600 Florida St., across from the bakery that her family operated. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended LSU until she received her "Mrs." degree. Sarah Slocum was a wonderful wife for more than 56 years to P.V. Slocum, who preceded her in death. She was a marvelous mother, raising two doctors and two teachers. She was a generous "Granny" to 10 grandchildren who have all become independent young adults. Sarah was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church. She loved camping, traveling, playing cards and visiting with family. Sarah was a selfless, caring individual. She is survived by two daughters, Trudy Ivy, of Baton Rouge, and Barbara Guidry and her husband, Jay, of Sulphur; two sons, Dr. P. Douglas Slocum and his wife, Donna, of Slidell, and Dr. Wayne A. Slocum and his wife, Yvette, of Tupelo, Miss.; a sister, Shirley LeBlanc, of St. Gabriel; and a brother, Marion L. "Cookie" Wolf, of Baton Rouge. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Drew and Matthew Ivy, Paul, Daniel, Sarah, Adam, Scott and Emily Slocum, Amber Guidry and Eric Guidry and his wife, Leigh. Preceded in death by her husband, P.V. Slocum Jr.; parents, Henry and Effie Kidd Wolf; four sisters, Mabel Jennings, Thelma Cowart, Helen Williams and Effie Burton; and three brothers, Henry Wolf, Robert "Tubby" Wolf and Harold Wolf. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, June 5, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 6, from noon until religious services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Sloan Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.
