

Shannon Lee Springer passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 74. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, a native of Shreveport, LA, and a graduate of Northwestern State University. Shannon proudly served as a Captain in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He then embarked on a successful career of over 30 years in the automotive service industry. Shannon was a loving and loyal family man. An avid outdoorsman, he was deeply committed to mentoring youth through his decades of dedication to, and leadership in the Boy Scouts of America. Shannon is survived by his loving children; Aimee Patane, Joseph Springer (Kelli), Jonathan Springer, Todd Carter (Charlene), Doug Carter (Jessica), and Ryan Carter (Lisa); grandchildren, William, Emma, Collin, Sophia, Chance, Christian, Apryl, Brennan, Andrew, Alexis, Kinsley, and Beau; sister, Paula Schermerhorn; brother-in-law, Keith Hopson; and a host of other family members, including his former wife, Margaret Springer. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Carter-Springer; parents, Forrest and Edna Springer; and his sister, Connie Jo Hopson. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 1pm until the time of funeral services at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
