Together with her loving husband of 67 years, Gerald Phares, they raised five beautiful daughters and taught them the love of God, country and family. Sharon’s electric smile and happy spirit are unforgettable. A life-long faithful Christian, Sharon lived her life as God intended. “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Sharon graduated from Central High School and attended Business School in Baton Rouge. She served as the leader of the women’s ministry while attending Victory Harvest (f/k/a Victory Bible Fellowship). She later attended Live Oak Church. Sharon and Gerald loved their small rural farm where they together grew hundreds of camellias and raised goats, chickens and peacocks. Both Sharon and Gerald were faithful members of the Baton Rouge Camellia Society; Sharon became a certified judge for annual camellia shows and enjoyed working alongside Gerald in tending and propagating their own camellia bushes.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Gerald; five daughters, Bambi (Brent) Carpenter; Lydia (Fred) Fellner; Mandy (John) Manda; Alanna (Max) Davis, and Sissy (Mike, now deceased) Hughes. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren (one deceased) and 22 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Live Oak Church in Watson. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join the celebration of Sharon’s life at the home of Lydia and Fred Felner, 22155 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739.
