

Shelton "Hop" Joseph Kennedy, beloved husband, father, grandfather,great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 90in the care of St. Joseph's Carpenter House on March8. A lifelong Louisianan,Hop was known for his deep devotion to family,his larger-than-life personality, and his ability to turn everyday moments into lasting memories.
He was born on April 8,1935, in St. Landry,Louisiana. He spent his career working as a mechanic and electrician helper.
Hop was an avid golfer,and a devoted supporter of LSU athletics. In addition,he loved dancing, listening to Cajun music, and taking gambling trips to Las Vegas with friends.
Those who knew Hop will remember a man who embraced life fully. He believed in showing up for the people he loved and living life with courage, humor, and generosity.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years,Dolores Kennedy; his daughters, Terri Cutrer,Tammy Mabry, Theresa Martin, and Tracy Cox(Dac); 9 grandchildren,Christopher White (Dylea),Sasha Trana, Jason Martin(Christin), Rani Glass,Alexandra Shanks (Pat),Codi Ross (Michael), Kayla Pierce (Nathan), Cayne Cox(Victoria), and Elaine Harris (Taylor); 19 greatgrandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren,numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family of relatives and friends whose lives were deeply enriched by knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Agnes Thibodeaux Kennedy, brothers Raymond and David Kennedy,sister Idell Kennedy Deville, two infant siblings,sons-in-law Sammie Cutrer, Gary Martin, and grandson Douglas Glass.
Funeral services will beheld at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville on Friday,March 13. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at Noon.Private burial will be held at Green Oaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge at 3:3 pm.
