"Gathering and sharing to reap the beauty from mother nature." Shirley Veau Eck, native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2014 at the age of 89. She was a charter member of the National WWII museum, Sherwood Forest and Baton Rouge Garden club, Red Hat Ladies, Baton Rouge Music Club and Encore Club of Baton Rouge. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas More and a member of the choir. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time in her garden and she had a passion for music and singing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Eck Compton and spouse Brady; son, Joseph Albert Eck and spouse Bonnie; grandchildren, Emerie Gentry, Laura Compton, Thomas Eck, Andrew Compton, and Matthew Eck; sister, Mary Jane Breaux. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Eck, Jr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Veau; and sister, Doris Marible. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on February 22, 2014 from 10 AM until funeral service at 12PM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
