Simon Joseph LeBlanc, 87, a native of Morganza and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died at home on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired sheet metal worker for Local 21. He is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude; four children, Debbie Ward, Darrell LeBlanc, Janice Kling and Greg LeBlanc; as well as by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was one of nine children and two sisters precede him death. An avid card player all his life and a member of the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Simon had a zest for life and kindness that is not often found in this world. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his quick wit and fun-loving spirit will be missed by all. Services will include visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Mike Moroney. Entombment will take place following Mass in St. Ann's Catholic Church Mausoleum in Morganza.
