Day, Stephen Owen "Steve"Steve passed away early Tuesday morning on July 21, 2015 at his home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at the age of 62. Steve was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana and grew up in Baton Rouge, where he would live for most of his life. He graduated from Broadmoor High School and attended Baylor University where he received Bachelor's degrees in History and Religion. He was very personable; he would often say that he never met a stranger and he never tired of talking about his family. If he saw a veteran eating at a restaurant, he insisted on helping pick up the tab. This wasn't surprising since he was a devotee to the study of history, especially the Civil War and World War II, a product of the pride he had for his country. He was a dedicated volunteer for Meals On Wheels who trained and mentored many others. Above all, he was intensely committed to his family, his God, and to giving back to the community in which he lived. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Susan Daniels, his siblings Barbara Norckauer, Diana Day, and Robert Day and his wife Janice; his sons Jason, Josh and his wife Lisa, and Alex and his wife Danielle; and his grandchildren Noah, Lorelei, Nathan, and Elizabeth Day. Services will be Saturday July 25 beginning with a visitation at 9 am, memorial service at 10 am at Rabenhorst Funeral Homes East followed immediately by a brief graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park and a noon reception at Southgate Tower Clubhouse.
