

"It is with great sadness that the family of Steve Tessier announces his passing on Sunday June 24, 2018 at the age of seventy five. He was born December 4th, 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. After graduating from Catholic High School, Steve attended Louisiana State University then proudly served his country in the US Navy, deployed in Newfoundland, Canada where he met the love of his life, Pat. He worked at the Exxon refinery for thirty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed spending time outdoors. "Lefty" was a fixture on numerous softball teams both as coach and player, from his days playing in the Exxon employee league, to Our Lady of Mercy co-ed church teams and the fifty and over leagues. He embraced Cajun culture, listening to Cajun music, attending festivals and dancing the night away with Pat. Steve molded the lives of many young men during his years of coaching football for Our Lady of Mercy Blue Jays. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, his children Todd Tessier and wife Lauren, Tracee Tallas Tessier and husband Jeff, and Tiffany Tessier Hughes and husband Nick. "Paw Paw" will be affectionately remember by and his six grandchildren Lillie Hughes, Connor Tallas, Lawson Tallas, Jacob Tessier, Hannah Tessier and Cole Hughes. He was preceded in death by his father Charles "Bert" Tessier Sr., his mother Melva Ligon Tessier, his brothers Charlie, Tommy and Jack. He is survived by his sister, Ella V. Wakely and brothers Jeff, John and Pat along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will resume Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 445 Marquette Ave from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
