Susan Metcalf Moise was born on October 3, 1950 in Gulfport, MS, but lived most of her life in Baton Rouge, LA, where she died at home with family on March 8, 2024. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Andrew Shurtz, her precious grandson Paul Shurtz, her beloved sister and brother-in-law Jeanie and Jerry Webb, and siblings Chuck Metcalf and Barbara Lee. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oyer and Audre Metcalf, and her sister Anne Machen. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Paul Moise, and her adoring son, Chris Moise. Sue was an attentive stay-at-home mom, who later taught preschool at St. George Catholic School to be closer to her children. After they grew, she transitioned to a career in the financial services industry, working initially for A.G. Edwards and later for Wells Fargo Advisors. She greeted everyone who entered these offices with a warm and welcoming smile. Sue spent the last years of her career at Raymond James Financial Services, working with dear friends she considered family, especially Shirley Cook and Bowen McRae. Their love and support for Sue and her family have known no bounds. Sue was an exceptionally devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her loved ones, and she had the strength and energy to do it all. She possessed a unique spirit that was equal parts loving and nurturing, sassy and feisty. Her joie de vivre was contagious, and she brightened every room she entered. She will be remembered fondly for her quick wit, honesty, generosity, and great sense of style. She dressed proudly to the nines and never paid full price. A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
