

Susanne “Susie” Comeaux Hotard Heroman, left this earthly life to be with her Savior on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Susie was born November 6,1943 to Robert I. and Corinne L. Comeaux in Baton Rouge, and attended Saint Joseph’s Academy, graduating in 1961. She was the Catholic High School Homecoming queen her Junior year, and was on the Homecoming court her Senior year. She also was a CHS/SJA cheerleader, Class Ambassador, Class Rep, and a member of the volleyball team and Glee Club.
While enrolled at LSU in 1961, she met the love of her life, Charles Dale Hotard, and they married on May 29, 1965. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and he was a Kappa Sigma fraternity member. Susie received her bachelor’s degree in 1965. Susie and Dale were married for forty-five years until his death in 2010, and together they raised three sons, Jeffrey, Davis and Daniel.
Susie married Fred William Heroman on November 23, 2011 after they reconnected, having been on the cheerleading team together at CHS in high school. They were married for nine years until his death in 2020. Susie was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Paul Comeaux and Robert Comeaux, Jr., her sisters-in-law Patricia W. Comeaux and Nona Hotard Boudreaux, and her brothers-in-law Stark Davis Hotard and Jude Francis Hotard.
Susie is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey Dale Hotard, Davis Charles Hotard, and Daniel Lee Hotard; her daughter-in-law, Kim Cary Hotard, and her grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Hotard and Hayden Jude Hotard. She is also survived by her two sisters, Charlene Comeaux Kennedy and Patrice Comeaux Ellis, along with many nieces and nephews. Susie is survived by Fred’s children, Leesie Greene (Michael), Freddie Heroman, Katie Houston (Jason) and Matthew Heroman, and Fred’s nine grandchildren.
Susie always enjoyed a good garage sale, and if you made her gift list, there was a chance you would receive a “gently used” item at some point. Her weekly time spent with her Re-Kindle Bible study group, as well as her Rosary group, was cherished by Susie. She also enjoyed her neighborhood “wine walks” and organizing monthly SJA Class of ’61 lunches. Susie was a current board member of the Martial Billeaud Foundation, served on the Magnolia Mound Preservation Foundation, and was a founding member of the La Fiesta Dance Club, as well as a long-time member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Little Theater.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 26, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and then on Tuesday, January 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main Street, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. (Pending the current weather conditions, please refer to the Rabenhorst online obituary for any updates to the services). Pallbearers will be Michael Kennedy, Dawson Ellis, Cheney Hotard, Beau Kern, Keith Comeaux and Brian Comeaux. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street, with a reception following at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Joseph's Academy. The family wishes to thank Audubon Home Health and Audubon Hospice for the care Susie received.
