Sylvia Ann Sumrall Moore, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Sylvia was born on February 11, 1936, in Port Arthur, TX, to William Alexander Sumrall and Daisy Louise Bourdier and was a lifelong resident of Baker, LA. She was a wonderful and loving wife and the best of mothers, and she delighted in spending time with family and friends. Sylvia enjoyed the outdoors and could always be found working in her yard. She also enjoyed fishing and all sporting events, as well as bowling and participated in different leagues over the years. Sylvia was joyous in her approach to life and a faithful servant to the Lord. She was a member and elder at Baker Presbyterian Church. Although Sylvia was small in stature, she was mighty in the eyes of her family, and she will be sadly missed by all, as well as her friends. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Marie Morris (Bob) of Pride; son, Michael Ray Moore of Belle Chase; son, Terry Lee Moore (Lorraine) of Central; sister-in-law, Carol Sumrall; and 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alton B. Moore; parents, William and Daisy Sumrall; son, Darrell Moore; brother, Daniel Q. Sumrall; and daughter-in-law, Donna Moore. Visitation for Sylvia will be held on Friday, February 25, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East (11000 Florida Blvd), from 4:30 to 7 pm. A private burial ceremony will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Oakwood Village Assisted Living, Lenore London Sitting Service, and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
