
Thomas Anthony John Jr. passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, surrounded by his family at home in Baton Rouge. Mr. John was a native of Crowley and lived and raised his family in Baton Rouge. He was in commercial real estate for many years, was a self-taught draftsman, photographer and flew private aircraft. He was a World Wart II veteran, 3rd Armored Spearhead, Bronze Star recipient and retired National Guard at the New Orleans Port of Embarkation. A longtime parishioner of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, "Mr. Tommy" was known for his endless baked pita bread and meat pies. Mr. John was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Abraham John; brothers, Harry and Harris John; and sisters, Gloria John Barro and Bootsie John Landry. He is survived by a daughter, Margie Gaudet and her husband, Mike; a son, Dr. Tommy John and his wife, Carla; and grandchildren, Dr. Amy Rabalais and her husband, Mike, Sara MacDowell and her husband, Adam, and John Gaudet. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Elizabeth John, and her mother Jane John. Funeral arrangements are set for noon, Thursday, Dec. 23, with visitation prior at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial park. Pallbearers will be Adam MacDowell, John Gaudet, Ian Hipwell, Lacy Howe, Steven Jung and Mike Rabalais. A very special thank you to the staff at Hospice and the angels who cared for him, Jessie, Judy, Cheryl and Trista. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Day School or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
