"Thomas Anthony Marcello, a native of Donaldsonville, passed away on June 26, 2018 at his home in Baton Rouge. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from LSU in 2004, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from LSU in 2006, and a Master of Public Policy from American University in Washington, D.C. in 2008. Tom was employed as a carbon market analyst by Bloomberg, L.P., EDF Trading, and Thomson Reuters. He was a highly-regarded expert in the field of carbon market analysis, and was an invited speaker on carbon trading issues throughout the United States. An avid chess player, he was also a rabid LSU and Saints football fan. In anticipation of the 2010 Super Bowl, he purchased a large flat screen TV to be delivered to his sister's apartment in Harlem to watch the Saints' historic championship victory. Later, after his sister threatened to sell the TV on Craigslist, he could be seen transporting the large TV by hand in the subway system and through Times Square to his small apartment in Hell's Kitchen. Needless to say, Tom was the life of the party. He was an accomplished raconteur. Tom is preceded in death by his sister Anna Marie Marcello and his wife, Maria Rivera Bendana Marcello. He is survived by his parents, Gail Marie Wood Martinez and Victor Lynn Marcello, and stepfather Alfredo Martinez Perez, his brother, Dominic Carlo Marcello (Sarah McMorris Marcello), his sisters, Katherine Marie Marcello and Elizabeth Marie Marcello, and his nephew, Victor Garrett Marcello. Tom was dearly loved by a large circle of friends. When he made a friend, he made a friend for life. Visitation on Saturday, June 30, Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, from 9 A.M. until a memorial service at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Institute of Mental Health (www.nimh.nih.gov) or Conservation International (www.conservation.org).
