Vera Lee Kelly

"Boo" as she wanted to be called, had a beautiful smile and she used it. She loved to laugh and always wanted others to laugh also. She served faithfully her church and The Lord, with all her heart. She will be missed, but not forgotten. She had a way of touching people in her own special way. Vera L Kelly was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA (Easy Town). She passed away on May 4, 2013 at 5:35am. She was 71, a graduate of Capitol Sr High, Class of '61. Over the years she was employed at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Dr William T Yates Medical Office and Chase Bank. She is survived by her son, Darrell L Kelly, I (Nedra); stepdaughter, Darlene Y Kelly; grandchildren, Angel, Darrell II, Aaron, Jennifer, India, Quentin; sister, Dorothy P Betts (Issac); nieces, Linda Gail Ruffin (Danny), Rosalyn Johnson, Keisha Trotter (Patrick); nephews, Mark Betts (Tara), Jahi Mbwana (Marva) Atlanta, GA, Keith Betts (Rose) Atlanta, Ga, Dennis Wicker Jr (Delacer). Viewing at Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church, 2501 Gracie St, Baton Rouge, from 8:30am until the Celebration of Life service at 10:30am on Thursday, conducted by Pastor Tommy N Gipson Jr. Burial will follow at the Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary, LA. She was preceded in death by parents, Josh Williams and Essie Johnson; husband, Felton L Kelly; brothers, Clarence E Johnson, Louis Pitts and Charles Robinson. Sister Kelly wanted everyone to know that she thanked everyone for all they have done for her and the family does too. We give special thanks to Dr Pamela Hollins, Dr Patrick Njoku, Dr Shaista Faruqui, Dr Charles Mason, Social worker, Angela Cunningham, LCSW and Shemika Butler for the love, compassion and professionalism. Also, special thanks to the Sisters Supporting Sisters (BR, Wanda Washington, President), the Butterfly Wing Hospice unit, BR General Hospital Mid city and Bluebonnet nurses and staff. Pallbearers will be friends, family and deacons of Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church.
