Violet Lutife Samaha died peacefully with her family at her bedside Tuesday, June 7, 2011, after a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Samaha's most important life work was to be the "best Mimi ever," a title bestowed upon her by her five grandchildren. Nothing meant more to her than these young people. She dispensed unconditional love, support and good food without limit. She was anything but judgmental and made each grandchild believe that they were most special. Mrs. Samaha was born in Toledo, Ohio, to immigrant parents. She moved to Baton Rouge and was a resident of University Acres for almost 60 years. Mrs. Samaha was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Samaha; and a grandchild, Jennifer Renee McCormick. She is survived by a son, John and his wife, Susan, and their two children, Abby and Holly Samaha; and daughter, Janis Samaha McCormick and her husband, Tom, and their three children, Kevin, Malain and Brian McCormick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your preferred charity. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Visitation at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Friday, June 10, from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
