Wayne Adrian Achord

It is with saddened and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Wayne Adrian Achord, who passed on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 84. He spent four years in the US Navy and was a Baton Rouge Police Officer for nine years. After 27 years of service, he retired from Uniroyal Chemical Geismar, LA. Wayne was an avid fisherman as a member of the Attala County Bass Club. He also loved the four months of the year known as the deer season. Wayne was a perfect example of what a husband should be to his wife and a father to his children. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ratliff; sons, Michael Achord (JoAnn), and Kenneth Achord; grandchildren, Thomas Achord (Grace), Justin Achord (Victoria), Blake Overton (Ashley), Dauton Achord (Lacie), Mallory Achord, and Stephanie Tran (Paul); 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Richie), Patricia, and Debbie (John); and numerous other family members. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Shirley Fay Achord; daughter, Dee Achord; grandson, Joshua Achord; brother, Lawrence Achord; and parents, Leighton Achord and Elvira Duhon Achord. We will honor his passing and lay him to rest at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, with a visitation on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 12pm until the time of a graveside service at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Please come celebrate Wayne’s life with the respect and dignity that he lived it by.
