

"A native of Baldwin, IL and resident of Baton Rouge, Wesley Burnell Koenig passed away at his home on Friday, September 09, 2016 at age 89. He was a retired Mining Engineer assigned to positions in Japan, Jamaica, Brazil and other foreign countries. Wesley proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. A loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Mary Koenig; son, Mark Koenig; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Larry Ormsby, and Linda and David Frost; step-daughter and husband, Kim and Joey Randazzo; step-son and wife, Kenneth and Jan Fulmer; four grandsons, Justin Frost and wife Kelly, Dillon and Kyle Ormsby, and Tyler Fulmer; six granddaughters, Kristen Bottinelli and husband Lucas, Chelli Tomaszewski and husband Tom, Cari Dunn and husband Chad, and Gabrielle, Caroline and Alexandra Randazzo; plus ten great-grandchildren. Wesley was preceded in death by his mother, Clara S. Koenig; father, Herman C. Koenig; sisters, Freida Koenig, Esther Klipper and Lillie Ward; brothers, Eldo, Harold and Herman E. Koenig; and his first wife, Patricia Winn Koenig. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Koenig, Joey Randazzo, Kenneth and Tyler Fulmer, Justin Frost, Lucas Bottinelli, and Larry and Kyle Ormsby. Wesley was a member and former elder at Trinity Lutheran Church and a graduate of the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, MO. He loved visiting Hawaii, especially the North Shore of Kauai where the lighthouse is located. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 6 pm until 9 pm and will resume at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 9 am until Memorial Services at 11 am conducted by Pastor Dave Buss. Military Honors will be rendered following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church Growth Program.
