

Wil died on March 13, 2021 with his beloved wife Pat at his side. Wil graduated from Catholic High School in 1953. He started at LSU in 1953-1954 and graduated in 1957. Wil, in the first start of his career, was a controller for several companies. He moved to Houston where he was again a controller for Bohler Brothers. As his career progressed, he became an insurance agent with a CLU and ChFC certifications. and was at the top of most agents. He then became an agent selling teachers first through fourth grades, middle school, high school and colleges. Wil sold them products that allowed them increasing in value and use it when they could retire. Wil also wrote many others with plans to retire at a certain time of their lives.
Wil is survived by his wife, Pat, and children Alan Melancon (Susan), Mark Melancon (Patti), Margie Coomer, Glenn Melancon (Gwen).
He is survived by his grandchildren, Alan, Jr, and Todd Melancon,
Kirk and Drake Melancon, Amber Gibson, Taylor Coomer, Dustin Melancon,
and Thomas Misuraca. He also has five great grandchildren, Joey, Jillian, Aubrey, Frances, and Tobin.
He is also survived by Pat’s children, Melissa (George) Troxell,
and Chris Broussard and Pat’s grandchildren George, Jr. and Maggie Troxell,
CC and Lilly Broussard.
He is survived by his siblings, Ethel Roland, Emily Odom, Roger Melancon,
(Helen), Carole (Ducky) Christian and Joyce Leger (RL).
Wil loved to dance and was a wonderful dancer. He liked to watch old
black and white movies, especially Fred Astaire and Humphrey Bogart.
There will be a service for family members only due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
