

"William Dennis (Bill) Crain, April 30, 1963 - October 12, 2018. It is with deeply saddened hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) Crain at the age of 55, surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by Callie Avera (Mother), Ralph Avera (Step Father), Grace Richard Crain (Step Mother), Phillip Avera (Step Brother), Lula and Dennis Pitre (Maternal Grandparents) and Hezzie Bill and Pauline Crain (Paternal Grandparents). Bill was a devoted and loving husband to Leslie (Matlock) for 24 years, son of Norman Crain and Partner, Kaye Beard Schiefelbein (Baton Rouge) brother to Angela Crain Haycook (Baton Rouge), step brother to Ronald Avera (California), and brother-in-law to Lynn Girard (Tecumseh, Ontario). He will be sadly missed by his niece Ashlyn Haycook (New Orleans), nephews Ryan Haycook (Lafayette), Jeremy Girard (Windsor, Ontario), Jeffrey Girard (Puce, Ontario) and Joshua Girard (Windsor, Ontario). Bill will be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Bill was a honors graduate of Catholic High School (Baton Rouge), Honors Graduate of LSU (Baton Rouge) with a Bachelors Degree in French and German. After studying in France for one year, Bill continued his education at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign earning Masters Degree in Linguistics followed by an MBA. Also during that time he spent a summer internship with Deutsche Bank in Germany. He was a Banker for several years with NBD Bank in Detroit and Bank One in Chicago. After leaving the banking industry, Bill achieved class honors in Chemistry at University of Illinois Chicago. Bill touched many people with his intellect, sense of humor, kindness and compassion. He was an avid reader who loved to learn, enjoyed traveling, hiking and good food. Bill fought a courageous battle with cancer. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston), Dr. Michael Castine and his staff (Hematology Oncology-Baton Rouge) and St. Joseph Hospice Foundation/The Carpenter House for their extraordinary care and support. In lieu of flowers, and if so desired, donations would be appreciated to MD Anderson Cancer Center or St. Joseph Hospice Foundation (Baton Rouge). There will be a Memorial Service at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 with visitation beginning at 10:00am, service at 11:00am and reception to follow at the funeral home.
