
He went to be with the Lord his Savior on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at his home after a battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family and special friends. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of Istrouma High School, a former employee of Exxon Chemical Co. and was retired from H.E. Wiese Construction Co. "Mr. Bill" was a member of lstrouma Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Campers on Mission. He is survived by his constant companion and love of his life, Alice L. Singleton; daughters, Beverly Sue Roberts and husband Dale, Sherry Thompson Winchell and husband Tom, and Eva Thompson Blades; sons, William Walter Thompson Jr., Ernest "Doug" Thompson and wife Karen, and Curtis R. Thompson and wife Cathy; brother, Joseph "Jack" Rogillio and wife Felicie; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest D. Thompson; and mother, Annie Love Thompson. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jay Brooks, Dr. Robert Craig, St. Joseph's Hospice and the chemotherapy group at Ochsner's. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Foundation or St. Joseph's Hospice. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, Nov. 28, was from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.Visiting resumes at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m.until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Tim LaCoste. Interment inRoselawnMemorial Park.
