With his daughter at his side, W.L. Switzer, Jr. left this world and moved into his eternal home Wednesday, June 22. He was 95 years old. His life was marked by his love for God and his love for people. That led him to committed service to his church and lending a helping hand to anyone in need from family and friends to hitchhikers. He had a smile and greeting for everyone he passed. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, leaving it only to serve as a US Marine in WWII. After the war, he followed in his dad's footsteps working for Exxon. Later his son and then grandson followed. He was married to Elizabeth St. Amant for 27 years and after her death married Christine Noles Stovall for nearly 38 years before her death. He is survived by his three children, Bill Switzer and wife Mary Ellen, Mike Switzer, Betty Tircuit and husband Woody, and his three step children, Jerry Ann King and husband Bobby, Chris Stovall and wife Cheryl, and Cathey Kavanaugh; grandchildren, Billy Switzer, Brandon Switzer and wife Amanda, Dustin Switzer and wife Samantha, Rev Nathan Tircuit and wife Jennifer, Kyle Tircuit and wife Leslee, Laura Taylor and husband Rev Nathanael, Bethany Tircuit, step-grandchildren, Jay King and wife Tracy, Leigh Ann Moore and husband Brian, Jerry Stovall and wife Anne, Tina Dersch and husband Bryan, Rev John Kavanaugh and wife Rebecca, and Christen Schulte and husband, Scott, as well as 22 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was loved by each and every one and had a profound influence upon their lives. Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, from 9 AM until a funeral service at 11:00. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. His grandsons Rev Nathan Tircuit, Rev John Kavanaugh and grandson in Law Rev Nathanael Taylor will be officiating. We would like to thank Amedysis hospice for all their help and support over the last year. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Alzheimer's or a Christian organization of your choice.
