I was so sorry to hear about your loss. He was a fine Christian man. My thoughts an prayers are with the family,

Skeeter, We had not seen each other in many years, but I remember our younger days on Peggy Street. One day on the other side we will reminisce those days again.

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.  I served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for ECJS during the time Mr. Cornelius was the County Judge as well as the Juvenile Judge.  It was my privilege and honor to have had that opportunity to work directly with/for Judge Cornelius during my time in Texas.  Today, I continue to serve youth and families on Cape Cod, MA.  To this day, every so often, I will recall a moment or a quote from Judge Cornelius and think back to the dignity and respect he showed towards all individuals around him, at all times.  I will always admire that about Judge Cornelius.  
He was a good man.

Judge Cornelius was always very supportive to Ellis County Juvenile Probation from the top to all citizens including the victims in Ellis County. We thank you for his time and service to the citizens in Ellis County. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

OK, Al, this joke's not funny. 

To his family; You can be assured that your Maurice was a faithful friend for me and countless others. The time we passed together was always enjoyable and profitable. He was a man of warmth and character and I know that he is in that legendary better place... his first permanent home.

You were blessed with a man of many talents who loved you. He lived a rich life of accomplishment and commitment and humor. He had a servant heart. He has affected you in indelible ways. Be happy about that and remember the good times. That is what he wants. He has claimed his reward. Follow him to Heaven.

Dear Phil and Family,

Such an unexpected loss and our sincerest condolences at this time. Al was always such a pleasure to be with whether he was over at our house for Sunday lunch, in a big group at dinner parties, or at a political event. His stories and wit were delightful and pure entertainment. He kept you hanging onto the edge of your seat. I finally had to learn that if his mouth was open, you'd better look out. His yarn was being spun and you wouldn't realize it until the very end that you had been hooked, lined, and eaten alive. He was indeed a man of many talents and successes. May his legacy be one that his grandchildren will read about one day and be proud to see all of his many accomplishments and endeavors that served his community, his state, and the individual lives that he touched. We will miss him greatly! He has definitely earned his reward and enjoying the richness that the here after offers! Our love to you all!

Al Cornelius was one of the first people I met when I moved my family to Ellis County in the summer of 2001.  He was a joy to be around and had a wonderful sense of humor combined with a quick wit and a way of reminding me not to take myself too seriously.  As his obituary reads, he was a man experienced in a multitude of subjects and could and would speak on nearly any topic.
I have many fond memories of my brief time working with him in County governement.  He was a fine man.

So sad to hear about Judge Cornelius! He was such a caring person. He was not only our County Judge, but Juvenile Judge. It was a joy to work with him for several years. I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  When I think of our childhood, I have many fond memories of your dad.  The old neighborhood hasn't been the same since he left.  I would love to attend and see the family, but will be out of town all week and weekend.  God Bless and my prayers will be with you all moving forward.
