

Alejandro R. Lopez, Sr., 62, of Baytown, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Houston. He was born May 8, 1948 in Laredo to his late parents, Basilio Lopez, Sr. and Maria Resendez Lopez and had lived in the Baytown area for the last 28 years.
Mr. Lopez was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mont Belvieu, had previously served as a Sheriff's Deputy in Webb County, Texas and was a retired truck driver from DSI Transports after many years of service. He was known as a pioneer in Tejano Music, playing the saxophone in Tejano bands during the late 60's and early 70's.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Rosie Lopez of Baytown; children, Veronica Lopez and Monica Ann Lopez of Baytown, Alejandro Lopez, Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Chandler, Arizona and Esmeralda Lopez and Rosie Lopez of Baytown; sisters, Lilia Abrego, Guadalupe Moncivais and her husband Felix and Gloria Lopez all of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Christopher Aaron Lopez, Michael Andrew Ventura, Lauren Taylor Martinez and Solana Giselle Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews and his cat Frenchie.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Navarre Funeral Home with a Rosary, to be recited at 7:00 p.m., led by Deacon Gene LeBlanc. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3515 Trinity Dr., Mont Belvieu, 77580, with Father Khanh Ho officiating.
