

Alfredo Cervantes, age 63, was born in Brownsville, TX on February 10, 1953, to Maria V. Gomez and passed on to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at his home in Baytown. It was while living in Brownsville that Alfredo met his future wife, of 43 years, Graciela Cervantes. Alfredo and Graciela eventually moved to Baytown, where they stayed to raise their growing family. He proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He attended and graduated from I.B.N. in 2001. He retired after 24 years of employment with Goose Creek ISD's Maintenance Department.
Alfredo was a long time member of Templo Horeb in Baytown where he enjoyed helping others and volunteering his time. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, unconditional love for his family and the Dallas Cowboys, hard work, generosity and his ability to provide a unique touch of fatherly love to all who were in need. Alfredo was definitely a great man of God, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ramiro and Reynaldo Gomez and grandson, Alberto Mata III. He is survived by his loving wife, Graciela Cervantes; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Alberto Mata Jr., Patty and Valentin Herrera, Erika Cervantes and David Martinez, and Maggie Cervantes and Chad Rivers; sons and daughter-in-law, Alfredo Jr. and Monica Cervantes and Anthony Cervantes; and his grandchildren, Jesse Morton, Jonathon Cervantes, Nathan Herrera, Isaac Herrera, David Martinez, Kaitlyn Herrera, Hunter Cervantes, Brianna Mata, Dillon Cervantes, Madeline Rivers, Mia Rivers, Joshua Cervantes, Emma Martinez and Melina Rivers. He is also survived by his mom, Maria V. Gomez; brothers, Raul, Roberto, and Rene Gomez; and sisters, Rosa Almaguer and Romelia Cólon.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Pastor Neftalie Quintana officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
