

Allan Wayne “Pete” Williams, 74, of Baytown was born July 7, 1932 in Livingston and passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 in a Houston hospital. He was a member of the 1st United Pentecostal Church of Mont Belvieu and was retired from U. S. Steel. He was a U. S. Air Force WWII veteran and served as Chuck Yeager’s crew chief before he went on to become the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Lee Williams and sister, Evelyn Gay and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Cathleen Williams of Dayton; daughter, Tammy Johnson of Baytown; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Linda and James Rice, Virginia Downing, and Janice Trousdale, all of Mont Belvieu, Alice and Bobby Bounds of Highlands, and Brenda Saunders of Baytown; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Guy Davis, David Downing, Bobby Bounds, Robby Bounds, John Carkhuff, and Jimmy Green
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park with military honors.
