

Alton R. Prihoda, M.D., of Baytown, Texas, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on January 3, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie L. Prihoda, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Prihoda; his mother, Henrietta Prihoda; his son, Andrew Prihoda, and fiancée, Kristen Moore; his sons, Nathan and Bryan Prihoda; his daughter and son-in-law, Kara and David Orosco; his daughter, Kayla McGee and fiancé, John Tremmel; his granddaughter, Kailynn Orosco; his sister, Julie White; sister, Nonie Auwaerter and husband, John; brother, John Prihoda and wife, Susan; sister, Helen Tippen and husband, Dan; brother, Ed Prihoda and wife, Shirley; sister, Ethlyn James and husband, Roy; sister, Louise Prihoda; sister, Janie Walthall and husband, Chris; sister Lorine Golden and husband, Glenn; sister, Margie Terrell and husband, Bill; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with their children.
Alton was a pillar of the Baytown community. A 15-year member of the Board of Trustees at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and active on many hospital committees, Alton was a pediatrician serving Baytown for over 23 years. He was deeply committed to the community of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a proud member of the Baytown Rotary Club and a lifelong Texas Aggie. He will be missed by all. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Greg Terry, Dr. Stephanie Schwartz, Dr. Pam Medellin, and Dr. Ted Krell for the excellent treatment Alton received. The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire San Jacinto Methodist Hospital community, whose support, affection, and care made a huge difference in Alton's life and the life of his entire family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521, with a rosary being said at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 800 West Baker Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
Pallbearers are his brothers, John and Ed Prihoda; his sons, Andrew, Nathan, and Bryan Prihoda; his cousin, Steve Miculek; his son-in-law, David Orosco; and his future son-in-law, John Tremmel. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Chris Hays, Dr. Danny Wong, Dr. Greg Terry, Dr. Tom Marshall, Dr. Jesse Kirkpatrick, Ed Bornett, and Pete Alfaro.
